Dan Figueroa is a Nationally Certified and New York State Licensed Massage Therapist who has been serving the New York community for over 18 years. Dan discovered Massage Therapy after a series of sports injuries left him seeking pain relief. He found that under the regular care of Massage Therapy that his symptoms had lessened and he was able to resume the normal level of physical activity to which he was accustomed.

In a desire to better understand the physiology of the human body Dan attended pre-medical studies at NYU and Columbia Universities before deciding to opt for a more holistic approach. He graduated from The Swedish Institute in New York City and set up practice in Larchmont with his wife who is a Chiropractor and Registered Dietician. For the first 8 years of his practice Dan worked on many Chiropractic patients who were usually in pain for various reasons. It was this experience in which Dan developed his own unique style of Massage. Combining several different techniques which he learned in school as well as in continuing education and travel, he developed his own system of working with the body’s muscles and tissues. In understanding physiological and structural changes that occur in the body, Dan is able to effect change by manipulating underlying and deeper tissue structures.

Dan has enjoyed a career which has afforded him the opportunity to develop a working relationship with Medical Doctors, Chiropractors, Psychologists and Physical Therapists as both a consultant and also on a client/patient referral basis.

Part of Dan’s philosophy is that he believes that learning about the human body, its function and how it works is a main component to healing the body. This led him to teach seminars and classes in Human Anatomy and Physiology, Pain Management and The Basics of Swedish Massage and its Impacts on the Body.

Additionally, Dan is trained in doing Pre-Natal Massage and has extensive experience working with many pregnant women in his practice. He has also worked with children and teenagers with issues ranging from Sports injuries to Attention Deficit Disorder.

In the next phase of Dan’s career he decided to work more independently and has been an independent consultant to Spa’s in Larchmont, Mamaroneck and New York City. While working in Manhattan, Dan worked closely with many performing artists including film and theater actors, professional dancers and musicians. Working with professionals who use their bodies for a living also helped to fine tune Dan’s understanding of the human body and its function, healing and recovery. Dan continues to work with some of these professionals as their exclusive therapist and healing consultant. Some of his other clients have included Professional Tennis and Baseball players and athlete’s training for the 2004 Olympics in Athens and the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Dan continues to practice in Mamaroneck, New York and is available daily by appointment.
